Hello! We’re Jason and Katie.
We’re partners in photography and partners in crime.
We love to laugh, we love each other, and we love love.
And no matter how many times we shoot, the magic never goes away.
Love is our greatest adventure, too.
We keep it together when shooting your photos, but in daily life we’re goofballs who laugh as much as humanly possible.
Along with pointing our cameras at things, we enjoy spending time with our cats, working on our old house, traveling in the camper van we built together, and getting lost in nature. (Hopefully not too far from the van.)
We live our lives off the beaten path and love to meet others who see the world the same way.
Our Background
We both have different skills and experiences we bring to the table:
The Jason half of us started a career in professional portrait photography over a decade ago and ran a busy wedding photography business in Cincinnati for five years as part of Red Queen Photography.
The Katie half of us, who hasn’t stopped creating since the moment she could first grasp a crayon, is a professionally trained artist and power tool wielder with an education in architecture and video art.
When we met and fell in love, our path became obvious: we wanted to blend our superpowers and walk this road together.
That’s when Right Here was born.
Jason’s superpower: Nailing it.
Jason is a wizard with practical challenges like low lighting, cramped spaces, and stiff timelines. To him, getting a perfect shot is like solving a puzzle of light and space. The logic itself is an art.
But his best skill is putting people at ease. Because, let’s be honest, who isn’t a little awkward when getting their photo taken? His laid back personality and 12-year-old-boy sense of humor help people get over their jitters and feel comfortable in front of the camera. And that’s when their inner light really shines.
Katie’s superpower: Finding beauty.
Katie thinks you’re beautiful. Yes, you.
Love is an experience of seeing beauty in one another, and her work radiates this idea. The greatest win imaginable is when she makes you see it in yourself.
She finds beauty in the world around you, too. Her background in architecture draws her towards stunning compositions that make the environment part of a photo’s story. Catch her framing you in a jaw-dropping wide shot that turns your surroundings into a temple.
It’s personal.
There’s something extra magical about working as a married team to document other people’s love. It makes the experience of the people we are photographing resonate all the more, and it drives us to create the most powerful images we can.
We are people like you, just trying to hold on to today.
And, to be honest, we’ve both lost enough to know exactly how important holding on is. Photos have helped transport us back to moments we’d do anything to go back to. Sometimes they were the only way we could even get close. That responsibility is at the heart of our work, and it shapes the attitude we bring to it.
Bottom line: No many how many weddings we shoot, we’re still going to tear up when we edit your photos. We’ve seen a lot of love, but we haven’t seen it all—because we haven’t seen yours. And we know that, to you, the moment we’re capturing is everything.
